A Moment in Time
This figure was inspired by photos (circa 1900) and stories of my great grandfather Laban Watson, Grammie Boothman’s father . We have several photos of this gentleman farmer collecting fresh produce from his garden into a large woven basket or in a wooden wheel barrow. Haying in the Ravine House fields with horse-drawn hay wagons and “building” loads of hay.
Laban was also one of the first trail builders on the north slope of the White Mountains. The Watson Path bears his name.
All the photographs we have of Laban farming, he was always wearing a white shirt, tie and dark pants along with a felt hat.
